Rest In Peace George Floyd! A Sermon from a Sh*tholer

A Sermon for George Floyd Protest against Racialized Policing Public safety race relations racial bias racial prejudice Religious Freedom societal change

“…….. He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. And when they heard it they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and he was left alone, and the woman where she was, in the midst. And straightening up, Jesus said to her.

“Woman where are they? Did no one condemn you?”

“And she said no one Lord.” And Jesus said,

“Neither do I condemn you; go your way. From now on sin no more!” John 8: 7- 11″

Friends, countrymen! I did not come to worship George Floyd nor to blame him! I just came to set the records straight! I have always lived by the motto “judge not that ye be not judged.” Matthew 7:1

You see in many instances in the Bible, God used imperfect people and even outright sinners to achieve his purpose in life! Does this sound familiar, yes it should! Because that is the same excuse evangelicals give for their acceptance of President Trump’s nonsense! Oh, it does not matter God uses who he wants and he is our own modern-day “King Darius.”

From David, the greatest King of all the Jews through Solomon God has used our imperfections for his purpose! Indeed in Jesus’ time, He focused on sinners! Jesus did not come for the righteous! He died for sinners.

He dined with Zaccheus a devious tax collector. He forgave the sins of the woman who committed adultery! Jesus one time at the invitation of the Pharisees had his feet washed by a prostitute. And when the Pharisees protested he told them this parable;

“two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed five hundred denarii and the other fifty. Neither of them has the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”

And Simon replied, “ I suppose the one who had the bigger debt.” And Jesus said,

“you have judged correctly.” Luke 7:40 – 47

The ones with greater sin are more appreciative of Jesus than us self righteous people.

Even whilst on the cross dying, Jesus atoned for the sins of a robber. He said to him “truly I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43!

Now I don’t know where George Floyd is because I have lost the concept of heaven and earth! But to suffice to say are we black people the only culture who elevates the lowliest amongst us for certain interests? Truly are we? Before I address that particular issue let me be clear; where I come from we don’t speak ill of the dead, period! My people, who have suffered indignation and slavery for over 400 years, God’s people, if God wants to use a criminal to relieve us of our burden, who am I, a new sh*tholer to say no?

Let’s also see how other cultures have elevated the lowliest amongst them to historical and economic importance.

You may have heard of the sins of Bonnie and Clyde! Yes the duo who killed at least nine cops and robbed several banks across
Several states in America. Did you know they sell “Bonnie and Clyde” merchandise in America to the tunes of millions of dollars? Now you tell me who is elevating the worse amongst them. There are “Bonnie and Clyde” tours people embark on yearly!

Let me also address the elephant in the room! The Confederacy! Did you know the Federal government spent over 40 million dollars to fund “Confederate statues, homes, parks, museums, and libraries. Even when the funding was suspended individuals continue to spend millions yearly on Confederacy flags! To give you an idea of how I disagree with the concept of the Confederacy, my friendship with anyone will cease If I ever find a Confederacy relic in their homes! Nobody collects Nazi relics
For posterity and so should no American collect Confederacy momentoes?!

So here I am! I am not here to blame George Floyd for his sins. Here is what I know “God
Chooses who he wants to impart change just as we always hear about President Trump!

Who Jah blesses let no man curse!
